The Truth Extractor
Death must annihilate all falsity for the truth to be reborn. Such is the alchemical formulaof fixed water sign Scorpio and the kronos we collectively tread for the next four weeks. Instinctually secretive and unyielding in the pursuit of truth, Scorpio, the priestly surgeon, exhumes, purifies, and transmutes the skeletons of humanity. It draws on hidden resources, is competitive and defensive, ever-guarded against worst-case scenarios, rarely revelatory of motive, and possesses a strong survival instinct. With the keen instinct of a bloodhound, Scorpio audits, inspects, shrewdly manages and protects security threat at all cost; it is impervious to distraction, strategically discreet and repellingly reticent; its imagination of possible dangers is formidable. No other nurtures such an irresistible fascination with the darker aspects of life, fearlessly frequenting places where others would not dare to tread—be it your local slum or the cesspool of human psychology. Scorpio intuitively understands that darkness is where destruction and creativity converge, and that power is where attraction and repulsion meet.
Scorpio’s signature scent is the concoction of raw magnetism, brooding allure, and sultry charisma, distilled into a charged sexual mystique that casts a metamorphic spell upon those it encounters, often experienced as irresistibly, invasive, even bone-rattling. It deliberately intensifies emotions, tapping into gut instincts and harnessing its sixth sense to unearth what seethes beneath the surface, using its uncannily sharp intuition and psychic sensitivity to dissect even the most sordid aspects of the human mind. In this world, burdened with contaminated doctrine and infected consciousness, Scorpio cuts away all the rotten flesh of that which is foul, false and filthy, fearlessly exposing those elements that must be purged for collective growth— satisfied only when its subject lies bare and flayed before it, raw and bloody, its every thought, nerve and impulse on display. Enter pristine clarity, enter the emergence of light! But beware: Scorpio, unwaveringly loyal to its cause, is only so until betrayed. Then its anger is volcanic, its sting fatal, its silence final.
Scorpio in Literature
Some of the most profound literary works have been written by Scorpios, sharing a distinct focus on passion, darkness, suffering, betrayal, seduction, rebirth—and of course the insatiable quest for truth. A collection of quotes from my favourite writers with the sun in Scorpio:
Fyodor Dostoevsky — Russian Novelist, Essayist, Journalist
“Pain and suffering are always inevitable for a large intelligence and a deep heart. The really great men must, I think, have great sadness on earth.” — Crime and Punishment
“What is hell? I maintain that it is the suffering of being unable to love.” — The Brothers Karamazov
“I think the devil doesn’t exist, but man has created him, he has created him in his own image and likeness.” ―The Brothers Karamazov
Roland Barthes — French Essayist, Philosopher, Semiotician
“My language trembles with desire […] to the point of explosion.” — A Lover’s Discourse
“I am interested in language because it wounds or seduces me.” ―The Pleasure of the Text
“I hallucinate what I desire. Each wound proceeds less from a doubt than from a betrayal: for only the one who loves can betray, only the one who believes himself loved can be jealous.” — A Lover’s Discourse
Sylvia Plath — American Poet and Author
“I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead; I lift my eyes and all is born again.” ― The Bell Jar
“I desire the things which will destroy me in the end.” ― The Unabridged Journals of Sylvia Plath
“And when at last you find someone to whom you feel you can pour out your soul, you stop in shock at the words you utter— they are so rusty, so ugly, so meaningless and feeble from being kept in the small cramped dark inside you so long.” ―The Unabridged Journals of Sylvia Plath
Albert Camus — French Novelist, Philosopher, Political Activist
“There is no sun without shadow, and it is essential to know the night.” — The Myth of Sisyphus: And Other Essays
“Live to the point of tears.” — Carnets (Notebooks)
