Intensity and Regeneration
Not an easy house to grasp, the eight house submerges us into a deeper exploration of our possessions, desires and fears. It describes where we awaken our regenerative powers and symbolises the soul’s journey traversing both the physical and the spiritual realm. Here, we gain the understanding that true growth often emerges from the melting point of intense experiences and that wisdom is gained through transformation and evolution. Confronting our deep fears, shedding old patterns, and embracing the cycles of life and death allows us to transcend self-imposed limitations and awaken to our authentic selves.
Shared Resources and Intimacy
The eighth house governs the resources of others, including other people’s money, taxes, inheritances, wills and legacies, banking, insurance as well as legal disputes. Here, ‘we’ possess, not ‘I’ — shared resources, after all, essentially define our experience as humans inhabiting planet Earth.
The death of ‘I’ means the rebirth of ‘we’, encouraging us to reflect on how we share in intimate bonds such as emotional and sexual connections. Shared finances and shared physicality often stir deep feelings and forge profound links. When we expose our inner, authentic selves and bare our souls to one another, this can trigger primal fears of abandonment, co-dependency, powerlessness and destruction. Any complexes we develop in our early parental environment can become deeply entrenched behavioural patterns, often re-emerging distinctly in the area of sexual relationships. On the other hand, the union of bodies and souls is an opportunity for healing and self-transcendence as well as the healthy re-definition of dependency and closeness.
Taboo and Release
The eighth house shows where secrets that control and manipulate us like a puppeteer subconsciously undermine us. The shared private lives we live behind closed doors evade concrete definition or clear outlines and are often a mystery to others — sometimes even to ourselves. This is where we live out our most most raw, powerful feelings and primitive emotions, which are intricately linked to sex and death. Often considered taboo and instilling shame, the eight house shows how we can seek assistance and experience initiation into the exploration of our own depths.
Higher Wisdom Of The Eight House
The eighth house teaches us that surrendering to the ebb and flow of life's mysteries leads to profound spiritual growth and rebirth. It is a locus of both hell and heaven — utter darkness simultaneously enables the existence of penetrating light, revealing the precious material that is buried within us if we mine our personal abyss and haul to the surface valuable insights. Through intensity, intimacy, and release, we transcend our self-imposed limitations and embrace the transformative power of surrender to rebuild a sense of our true power.
