The Star: Archetype & Symbolism
The Star is a welcome symbol of illumination, hope, and spiritual renewal. The card, associated with the water bearer Aquarius, traditionally shows a woman pouring water onto the earth and into a pool, eight stars framing her naked body against the backdrop of a dark night sky. This serene, vulnerable scene immediately evokes a sense of peace, healing and enlightenment. The act of pouring water onto the earth symbolises a cleansing and rejuvenating process, and the dual symbolism of the woman straddling land and water underlines the importance of finding balance between feeling and pragmatism, and between conscious and subconscious aspects of life.
Profoundly connected to the divine. the Star encourages us to cultivate optimism and trust in the greater cosmic forces that guide our lives. Above all, it reminds us that where focus goes, energy flows. By releasing negativity and embracing emotional and spiritual clarity, this card encourages us to embark on a journey of inner healing and inspiration, which eventually trickles into the greater healing process of the collective consciousness. As such, the Star is a harbinger of profound spiritual insight, offering radiant illumination in times of darkness.
The Star: Advice, Lesson & Higher Wisdom
On the path of the soul, the Star represents an evolved condition of awareness: faith in positive outcomes. We have reached a difficult yet deeply rewarding point in our consciousness where we have transcended rationality and embraced our intuitive experiences as indicators of truth. We now understand that everything that has form, including our physical bodies, the air we breathe in, the trees we see — is light. We begin to ‘feel’ the Star as a personal reality when we fully grasp that life is light and that we are light — we are not alive if we do not conceive of ourselves as light. The Star illuminates — it unveils the veiled mysteries the High Priestess hinted to us earlier, allowing us to see what we couldn’t before. This is because we are no longer giving our attention to problems and pain, but to joy and beauty, which then becomes our reality. To live in the light of the Star. we must train ourselves to see only light and know that we are only light. We are constantly given opportunities to affirm light. If we have faith, we can walk into the light. If we walk in faith, everything we need will come to us.
