The Sun
The Sun: Archetype & Symbolism
The Sun represents the zenith of achievement of a life well-lived. Linked to Leo and the Sun in astrology, its primary purpose is to radiate — and so can we. It is the source of life, it is creative, and it gives the warmth of life through its light. Freedom is central to the Sun’s beingness. You don’t challenge the Sun — it is what it is and it does what it does. We have that within us, because we have the gift of free will. Everyone wants to be free - this is the essence nature of the soul speaking through us. Since there is free will, we are not subject to any authority at all. It generates a feeling of celebration. The Sun’s true mystery is transcendence, representing the state of or being that is not lost in the body, thought or feeling. The Sun is humble - when we tune into the real mystery of this card, we will find humility. A radiance of light.
Life is meant to be mysterious, so that we can make up our model of reality. The fact that we are not given the meaning of life, that we are given the means to make it all up and create our own narrative, is the sweetest of gifts. This enables our creativity to reach its greatest exaltation. Without tyranny, how could we know freedom? Without problems, we would not have any incentive to become who we could be. We need friction to grow. The real secret is to be happy with no stimulus, no company, whether it’s rainy or sunny, whether you're busy or free. Touching those rare states, secrets of the soul are revealed. Then you touch soul consciousness. The soul’s path, paradoxically, requires movement. Its aim is greater and greater self-realisation and development of that which is yet imperfect. Dynamic, ever-changing. Perfect is dead - it doesn’t move, it doesn’t develop. There is no stasis in life. If you are not evolving, you are suffering entropy and are in danger of dying off — this comes in the form of diseases, incidents, accidents, inconveniences, and eventually death.
The foundation of our life is soul consciousness. The soul is like the Sun - ever consistently, it can only radiate love and warmth, nothing else. Even if we can’t always receive this, that doesn’t stop the Sun from shining. As we identify ourselves as the source of that radiant shining, we live life, we become immersed in the understanding that there is only “now”. That is spiritual consciousness. We think and talk about this a lot, but do we actually affirm it as a choice of how to live? Blame and guilt and expectation all dissolve and respond spontaneously, knowing that this particular moment is all and everything. This requires recalibrating thought processes and feelings. Constant re-affirmation that “I am” in the name of God, this moment is another opportunity to be one with God. The best service you can do for God is to receive the service of God. Practice present-centred consciousness. I want to be here now, and no where else. I don’t want to think about yesterday and tomorrow, only now. You will know you were successful if a sense of humility overtakes you.
The Sun: Advice, Lesson & Higher Wisdom
The sun’s wisdom is this: change your mode of perception from being a self with a soul to being a soul with a self. The self-identification of a self as soul frees us from worldly things that are transitory and ephemeral, without depth of meaning, lost in history. As we move onto the next life, we become more circumspect. We now focus on what cannot die, what is eternal - this occurs through this process of self-identification of soul self. The soul is not physical and does not suffer the entropy of physicality. Our lives are centred around the knowledge that we die — but the soul only lives in the present moment. The Sun has no yesterdays - yesterdays do not exist for the Sun. It is now what it always has been and always will be. What if we didn’t have yesterdays? What if we didn’t have any investments in our personal achievements and family upbringing, the nation-state, and the joys and problems? Imagine all of this was taken from you. Self-identification of soul is freedom. We are looking down at ourselves from a meta-perspective, we have a personality interacting with the world and a body dying off.
